Workshop

In this workshop Johannes Dullin, director and performer, provides techniques which help actors and those interested in body work to discover the scope of movement of the body and to extend and access oneís repertoire of movement. In doing so, it is not the form of movement (such as dance or pantomime) that stands in the foreground, but rather, its authenticity, expression and character, which is ultimately the key to oneís personal language and style of movement.

The content of the workshop is designed to sharpen oneís perception of the body and to recognise its surroundings as sources of inspiration; to wake up oneís readiness to take risks, as well as joy in experimenting in movement; and, to learn to use the body as an instrument. In doing so, easy movements and gestures serve as the starting point. These are then focused upon, followed up and developed so that the banal as well as the poetically-absurd side can reveal itself. The workshop makes perceivable that the body is a frictional surface and movement a vibration. It can be experienced as a tool for all forms of creative processes, whereby it rouses oneís ability to be touched. The experiences and imparted principles of this workshop can be transferred to everyday life and work.

The workshop is directed to professional stage performers such as dancers, actors, pantomime artists, performers, pedagogues and to all those who wish to experiment with the expression of the body and movement. It is open to all those who want to confront the body as an instrument and discover it.
